1971 Brabham BT-35 Formula B

1971 - Chassis # 44 started life in hillclimb competition. The original owners,Agnes and Gray Mickel from Scotland, campaigned the car in UK hillclimbs in 1972 with a Brian Hart Twin Cam engine. The engine was later changed to a Cosworth FVC to run in Formula 2 events.
1975 - Rob Turnball bought the car and sold it to Fred Edwards in 1985. Edwards
ran the car in historic events through 1991, including Thruxton in 1986. The
car was then sent to the United States where it was purchased by David Irwin.
2006 - David Irwin, Evergreen, Colorado brings the car to the US and begins frame
up restoration with crack checks, powder-coating and nickel plating on all
hardware and suspension members. The body, wiring and plumbing were
restored along with the purchase of new wheels front and rear. Dave Vegher
of Veloce Motors West, Petaluma, CA builds up 1600cc Cosworth FVA engine.
2008 - Louie Shefchik of J&L Fabricating, Puyallup, Washington completes chassis rebuild, installing engine and gearbox.
2010 - The current owner purchases the for Vintage racing on the West Coast.
2011 - Complete FT 200 gearbox rebuild with jig set up with all new, input & lay shafts,
ring and pinion, bearings, gear selector rod and 2 plate 7 ¼” Tilton clutch.
2013 - New throttle cable, NAS bolts & nuts installed in CV driveshaft assemblies.
2014 - New 1600 cc Ford Twin Cam installed to compete in Vintage Formula B.
Chassis, body and suspension are in excellent condition. The Twin Cam engine is brand
new with dyno time only. All invoices, receipts, dyno sheets and vendor information are
provided. No expense has been spared in vintage racing this car on the west coast the last 4
seasons in HMSA, CSRG & SCCA events. Some spares, including FT 200 gears are included.
