In early 1987, Kraco Enterprises in California prepared this March 87C for Michael Andretti to campaign in the 1987 CART PPG Indy Car World Series. Michael raced the 87C to multiple pole positions, fast laps, and race wins during 1987. He captured three of his four wins that season (The Marlboro 500 at Michigan International Speedway; the Miller American 200 at Milwaukee; the Bosch Spark Plug Grand Prix at Nazareth; and the Nissan Indy Challenge at Miami) in this car. Andretti finished second in the Championship to Bobby Rahal.

Kraco Enterprises kept the March until selling it in 2008. In 2011 the Cosworth was rebuilt by VDS Racing Engines. Thereafter the March went to its next, and current, owner. All owners are known and documented.
